Eastman Tritan™ Copolyester Solves Breakage Issues for Ogapora Beverageware

Ogapora has switched production of its beverageware from polycarbonate (PC) to Eastman Tritan™ copolyester to solve the problem of breaking during repeated dishwashing. Tritan is a new-generation copolyester that provides a balance of properties, including clarity, toughness and dishwasher durability, and is not manufactured with bisphenol A (BPA).

Ogapora, a Spanish company, offers high-end tumblers, pitchers and stemmed glasses, such as water, wine and martini glasses and champagne flutes. Ogapora turned to Eastman Tritan™ copolyester to replace PC because of two specific material attributes of Tritan - its dishwasher durability and because it is free of BPA.

‘We selected Eastman Tritan™ copolyester because it will not crack, break or become hazy in the dishwasher’, said Guiomar Alvarez, Partner and General Manager, Ogapora. ‘Additionally, we sought to address our customers’ concerns about the safety of products they use on a daily basis by selecting a BPA-free material. Customers also benefit from the material’s toughness, clarity and aesthetic appeal, as Tritan has a look similar to glass.’
